Background

Started in 2005, the doctoral curriculum in linguistics was recognized by the Bureau of Higher Education on 3 May 2006.  It has operated under the regulations of the Council of Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University since 2005.

In the year 2012, the doctoral curriculum in linguistics of 2005 reached the point where it had to be revised in accordance with the section 16 of the graduate curriculum standards of 2012.  Those standards stipulate that curricula must be updated for quality improvement at least every five years.

The Graduate Curriculum Oversight Committee of the Department of Linguistics revised the curriculum of 2005 according to the framework outlined in the National Higher Education Standards of 2009.  This included revisions of program structure, course names and course descriptions, as well as the deletion of courses never taught.  In addition, new courses were added as appropriate to the subject area and international standards, incorporating suggestions and criticisms of the past. This was done so that the curriculum of 2012 would be complete, up-to-date, and appropriate to constantly changing social conditions.
